Why Our Bone Broth Is Different
Introduction
Choosing a bone broth isn't always as straightforward as it seems. While many products look similar on the shelf, the ingredients, cooking methods and production processes can vary significantly.
At British Broth Company, we've chosen to stay true to traditional methods. We use British ingredients wherever possible, simmer our broths slowly for maximum flavour, avoid unnecessary additives and carefully dehydrate our broth for convenience without compromising quality.
Here's what makes our bone broth different.
Traditional Principles, Modern Production
Great bone broth starts with quality ingredients and careful preparation.
While bone broth has traditionally been simmered for many hours over a stove, we use commercial pressure cookers to achieve the same natural extraction process more efficiently. Pressure cooking helps release naturally occurring collagen, amino acids and flavour from the bones while significantly reducing cooking time.
A shorter cooking time may also help limit histamine formation compared with very long simmering methods, making pressure cooking a preferred approach for many people looking to reduce their histamine exposure. However, histamine levels can also be influenced by ingredient freshness, handling and storage.
Once cooked, our broth is carefully filtered and gently dehydrated, creating a convenient powder made from real bone broth with no fillers or unnecessary additives.
We believe in combining traditional principles with modern food production, allowing us to produce consistent, high-quality bone broth while staying true to what makes real bone broth so valued.

Made Using British Ingredients
We're proud to produce our bone broth in Dorset using British ingredients wherever possible.
By sourcing British bones, we're able to support local agriculture, improve traceability and maintain high standards throughout our production process.
Producing in Britain also allows us to oversee every batch ourselves, ensuring consistency from start to finish.
No Fillers, No Bulking Agents
Some powdered bone broth products include additional ingredients such as flavourings, starches, gums or anti-caking agents.
Our dehydrated bone broth contains exactly what you'd expect:
- Slow-cooked bone broth
- Nothing unnecessary
No fillers.
No artificial preservatives.
No added flavours.
Just real bone broth.
Never Hydrolysed
One of the biggest differences between our products and many collagen supplements is how they're made.
Many collagen powders are hydrolysed, meaning the collagen has been processed into smaller peptides designed to dissolve quickly.
Our dehydrated bone broth begins life as genuine slow-cooked broth. We simply remove the water through a gentle dehydration process, leaving behind a concentrated broth powder that's easy to store, transport and use every day.
Dehydrated for Convenience
Fresh bone broth is wonderful, but it isn't always practical.
Our dehydration process removes the water while leaving you with a concentrated broth that can easily be rehydrated whenever you need it.
That means:
- Long shelf life
- Lightweight packaging
- No refrigeration before opening
- Less food waste
- Easy storage
- Convenient for everyday cooking
Simply stir into hot water or add directly to soups, stews, sauces, gravies and family meals.

Naturally Versatile
Our dehydrated bone broth has a mild flavour, making it incredibly versatile.
Many of our customers enjoy it:
- As a hot drink
- Mixed into soups
- Added to stews
- Stirred into gravy
- Used in sauces
- Mixed into mashed potato
- Added to rice dishes
- Used in slow cooker recipes
- Blended into savoury meals
It's an easy way to add traditional bone broth to everyday cooking.
Carefully Produced in Dorset
Every batch is produced from our Dorset facility by our small family-run team.
From cooking and dehydration through to packing and dispatch, we oversee the entire process ourselves.
This allows us to maintain quality throughout every stage of production.
Sustainability Matters
Making better use of ingredients is important to us.
Bone broth has traditionally been a way of making full use of the whole animal rather than allowing valuable ingredients to go to waste.
We continue that philosophy today by producing products designed to help people cook more naturally while making responsible use of raw ingredients.
