Why We Charge for Shipping

Why We Charge for Shipping

Why We've Made Changes to Our Shipping Charges

If you've recently visited our website, you may have noticed that we've changed the way we charge for delivery.

For many years, we've subsidised or absorbed a large proportion of our shipping costs because we wanted to make ordering from us as affordable as possible. However, like many small British businesses, we've reached a point where this is no longer sustainable.

The cost of sending parcels has risen significantly over the past few years. Increases in fuel prices, wages, packaging materials and courier charges have all contributed to making delivery more expensive. While we've done our best to absorb these increases, doing so means less money can be invested in what matters most – producing high-quality products using British ingredients.

Rather than increasing the price of every product we sell, we've made the decision to keep our product prices as fair as possible and charge shipping separately.

Why We Believe This Is Fairer

Shipping is an external service. Once your order leaves our premises, it is handled by Royal Mail or another courier whose job is to deliver it safely to your door.

By charging separately for shipping, you're paying for the delivery service you receive rather than having those costs hidden within our product prices. We believe this is a more transparent and honest way of doing business.

It also means customers who purchase several products aren't paying inflated prices simply to cover "free shipping."

Giving You More Control

Separating the delivery charge also gives you more control over your order.

Because shipping is a dedicated service, it allows us to deal more effectively with issues such as lost, stolen or damaged parcels. It creates a clear distinction between the product you've purchased and the delivery service used to get it to you.

We know that problems with deliveries can occasionally happen, and by treating shipping as its own service we're able to support customers more efficiently when something goes wrong.

Supporting British Manufacturing

Every product we make is produced here in Dorset using carefully sourced ingredients and traditional methods. We work hard to keep our prices competitive without compromising on quality.

We could simply increase the price of every product and advertise "Free Shipping," but that isn't how we want to run our business. We'd rather be honest about the true cost of delivery than hide it within our pricing.

Thank You

We know that nobody enjoys paying for postage, and we certainly don't enjoy charging for it. However, this change allows us to continue investing in our products, supporting British manufacturing, and keeping our product prices as fair as possible.

Thank you for supporting our family business. Every order genuinely makes a difference, and we're incredibly grateful for your continued support.
