FAQS for Kefir Water

1. What is water kefir?

Water kefir is a naturally fermented drink made by fermenting sugar water with water kefir grains, which contain a mixture of beneficial bacteria and yeasts. During fermentation, much of the sugar is consumed by the cultures, creating a lightly sparkling drink with a refreshing taste.

2. Does water kefir contain live cultures?

Yes. Our water kefir contains live cultures because it is traditionally fermented in small batches. Live cultures are one of the reasons many people choose to include fermented foods and drinks as part of a balanced diet.

3. Does water kefir contain alcohol?

Water kefir naturally produces very small amounts of alcohol during fermentation. Under normal fermentation conditions, this is typically well below the level found in alcoholic drinks. The exact amount can vary slightly from batch to batch as it is a naturally fermented product.

4. Does water kefir need to be kept refrigerated?

Yes. Water kefir should be kept refrigerated to help maintain its freshness and the quality of the live cultures. Once opened, keep it chilled and consume within the recommended timeframe shown on the bottle.

5. What does water kefir taste like?

Water kefir has a light, refreshing flavour with gentle natural fizz. Depending on the variety, you may notice subtle fruity notes while still enjoying the characteristic tang that comes from traditional fermentation.

6. How can I enjoy water kefir?

Water kefir can be enjoyed chilled straight from the bottle, poured over ice, or as part of your daily routine. Many people enjoy it with breakfast or alongside meals as a refreshing fermented drink.
